Clutch and flywheel replacement in Newton Abbot

Slipping, juddering or rattling? Clutches and dual-mass flywheels, priced before we start.

We can normally get you booked in within 2 days.

Russ replaces clutches and dual-mass flywheels (DMFs). Many diesels and plenty of petrol cars now have a DMF, and it's often worth changing it at the same time as the clutch because the gearbox is already out.

Signs of clutch or flywheel trouble

  • Revs rise but the car doesn't pick up speed (slipping)
  • Judder when pulling away
  • Heavy, spongy or high biting point on the pedal
  • Rattle or knock at tick-over that changes when you press the clutch (often the DMF)
  • Vibration through the floor or pedal
  • Difficulty getting into gear

Quoted up front

We'll check what's worn and give you a price before we start, including whether the flywheel needs doing. One customer said our quote for a dual-mass flywheel change, using the same parts, came in substantially less than the franchise dealers.

★★★★★

“Had our Citroen DS3 serviced by Russ who even washed the car afterwards. The cost was very good compared to the franchise garages. He's genuinely a car enthusiast and cares about customer service and included a general and helpful health checkup on the car, informing us of things to monitor. Our other car has been booked in for a dual mass fly wheel change and again the quote for the work using the same parts came in substantially less than franchise dealers. Thoroughly recommend.”

Questions we get asked

Do I have to replace the flywheel too?

Not always. If the DMF is within limits we'll say so. If it's worn, doing it with the clutch saves paying the labour twice.

How much is a clutch?

It depends on the car and whether a flywheel is needed. Book online for an instant price or call Russ for a quote.
